Fluid Chillers Builds Custom Chiller System for NASA Launch Pad

Jun 5, 2025 | News

At Fluid Chillers Inc., we take pride in engineering cooling systems for some of the world’s most demanding environments—and there’s no greater challenge than space.

We’re excited to announce that we recently designed and built a custom chiller system for NASA, created specifically to cool the astronaut compartment prior to liftoff. The system will be positioned directly on the launch pad, where it ensures the capsule stays within a safe temperature range while final launch preparations are underway.

Because of its critical placement, the chiller had to be built to withstand the extreme conditions of a rocket launch. To protect the unit from being destroyed during takeoff, we engineered it with blast plates capable of deflecting the intense heat and force of the rocket engines.

This project represents the precision, durability, and custom design capabilities that define Fluid Chillers. Whether we’re building systems for aerospace, industrial manufacturing, or medical imaging—our chillers are trusted where reliability is mission-critical.
